Chilly Willy Christmas 2020

Kiss Me

Blogger friend Kapgar has been wanting to see my Chilly Willy collection. I thought starting with the Christmas ornaments and a snow globe would be a good place to start.

There were a series of these ornaments. I thought I had more than 2, but I guess not. Or perhaps the others got lost in the various moves I’ve done over the last 20 years.

Happy Holidays

You can’t see it from the front view, but the red hat round ball broke off sometime ago. You would think over the years sitting in the box for 11 months, these things would still be intact. But I guess maybe it got knocked off the tree and hit the floor.

I really can’t recall when I got these. I want to say it’s been the better part of 20 years. There are no dates on the boxes. And they are worn from being taken in and out of the storage container they are kept in, even thought it’s only twice a year.

Snow Globe – Chilly

The snow globe was a good find. I believe I found this one at a Christmas gift shop. The front side shows Chilly Willy…

Snow Globe – Woody

….. and the back side shows Woody Woodpecker.

More Coming Soon

I have other Chilly Willy items that I’ve not posted out here before. Once I find them and take pictures, I will add another blog post.

Life’s What You Make It

Such a great song from Talk Talk

That phrase is more than just a song title. Or for that related matter, from a great 80’s song. It’s something that I really try to live each day.

Most days these past 5 years have been a bit of a struggle, increasing in difficulty as each year passes.

It’s been a good 10 months since I last blogged here. I have never wanted this space to go this long without a post.

There might come a day where I will revive this place.

Until then, Life’s What You Make It

Send Me Oreo

Oreo has two new flavors coming out. And they did a Twitter giveaway last night during the Grammy awards show.

send me oreo

Using the hashtag #sendmeoreo I sent a tweet and got a reply within a few minutes. Clicking the link in the tweet, I filled out shipping information and got the above response. So it appears they will be sending a package containing the new Oreo flavors of Cookie Dough and Marshmallow Crispy.

Once I get the prize pack, I will be reviewing them over on my main blog, adding to my other reviews of previous Oreo flavors.

Dreamhost Sweet 16 Birthday

Happy Sweet 16 Birthday to Dreamhost, who provides a stable platform for this 11 year old blog.

Moved To A Better Host

I will be nice and not mention my previous host of this blog, but I had nothing but problems and constantly on the phone with support to resolve issues.

A friend told me about Dreamhost and I decided to try it. I looked them up and saw they had been around for many years and that they were from Orange Country helped, too.

Since the switchover, my blog has been faster, easier to access and a breeze to configure.

So it’s with great happiness that I am glad Dreamhost is celebrating 16 years as a web hosting company. May there be many more birthdays to celebrate.

Short Outage

Not that anyone may have noticed, but this site was completely down from mid-morning Wednesday Nov 21st till Friday (today) Nov 23rd, bringing it back online just a couple of hours ago.

I was forced to move web hosting companies this week due to a change that my previous hosting company – My Domain – made that broke both of the WordPress blogs I hosted on their site. Working one minute, then once moved to their “new platform” they were not working. After three 40 minute phone calls, there was no resolution. I was simply told “the upgrade hasn’t finished yet. Things will work once it’s done.”

Well, I patiently waited hours – a good 24 hours to be exact and still nothing. So on Thanksgiving Day, I moved to Dreamhost. They had a one day deal that was hard to pass up.

The odd part about this is that I could still get into my WordPress Dashboard, with the database intact and operating properly. The main page was the PHP code from the index.php file [if you were viewing it from Google Chrome] or a blank page [if you were viewing it from Firefox, Safari or Internet Explorer] , which for some reason wasn’t executing the PHP code and bringing up the blog posts.

Still need to move my other blog – Adult Beverages – which remains down. In my efforts to not put every blog I have with a single hosting company, I am looking at a couple other providers that should be able to meet my needs without spending a lot of time and money.

Happy New Year 2012

My first step in transforming this site into something different is to borrow something from my main blog. The theme I am using here is one that regular readers of that blog know very well. It will be the theme I will keep in place for the foreseeable future. I may change it at some point this year, but that’s only if I find something else that is equally clean and easy to navigate.

However, I will be doing a major theme change over on Banal Leakage before the 5th anniversary in April. I have a few themes I am looking at now and hoping to find one in the next month that I can start tweaking.

So just a quick update. Will be posting more often here and on a regular basis in the next week or so. Stay tuned.

Brushing Away The Cobwebs

Looking at my posting history here, it’s pretty barren around these parts. Plus with no one really commenting out here, there’s no real urgency to post on a regular basis.

But regardless, I still will keep this blog alive. I am looking at changing the WordPress theme to something that supports version 3.0 [this particular theme I have now doesn’t support 3.0… I know, cause I did the update and it didn’t work]

I will try to have a post out here once a month, most likely posted from my iPad using BlogPress, which is a cool app that allows me to post without sitting at a computer.

So for those few that visit here, thanks for sticking it out.
